I didn't have high expectations for a cheap reconditioned nailer...i had never used an air nailer before either. This thing is fantastic! The build quality is really nice, light but solid. i've put maybe a thousand brads of all different sizes through it, no jams, no worries. It's pretty quiet all things considered, makes glue ups for my projects go so easy and most important i love using it! I find myself trying to come up with more projects just so i can use it. The ONLY thing i could think to comment negatively on is that i always forget to check the brad quantity...sometimes i keep on nailing after it's empty, and it still leaves the little hole where a nail would've went in so it's hard to obviously tell it's empty. there is a little window to check on this, but like i said it's so fun to use that i get carried away and never check the nail supply. i highly recommend, in fact i'm going to buy a reconditioned stapler to match for real thin materials that a brad nailer wouldn't work for.

I purchased this nail gun recently and was pleasantly surprised when I received it. The condition of the nailer was really good, you could tell it wasn't brand new as some slight touch up had been done to the black areas of the paint otherwise, you would be hard pressed to distinguish the gun from a new one. After receiving it, I fired up my compressor and ran about 50 or so nails through it to make sure it worked well and to see how easy it was to adjust the drive depth. I had no problems getting the gun to countersink 2" nails in oak.
Just a heads up, the description lists additional tips and hex wrenches as being included however, I did not receive any and do not see these items listed by other vendors in their description of the item. I suspect this is a minor oversight by Amazon.
I prefer to buy new when possible however, when the price is significantly cheaper, there is a promo code, and the warranty is good, there is no reason not to consider purchasing this gun reconditioned.

I bought it in November of 2002 I didn't use it till about 4 months later. Than I found the regulator wasn't working so I called Stanley and they said to send it to one of their repair shops in my state. It sat there for 1 month waiting for the part to come in. they fixed it (no charge) I have it back now and it's working fine. It came with a 2 1/2 inch nail gun. that works great also. I also use a 3-½ inch porter cable framing nailer with it and i've had no problem driving those nails in. the tank fills up very quick and last a long time between refills.

Factory-Reconditioned Bostitch U/MFN200 Manual Flooring Cleat Nailer Kit Review

Factory-Reconditioned Bostitch U/MFN200 Manual Flooring Cleat Nailer Kit
Average Reviews:

I am a do-it-yourselfer who decided to put hardwood flooring in the living and dining rooms. Point one, I way underestimated how long it would take. I rented an air compressor and air assisted nailer from Home Depot for a total of $95 for one day and was disappointed in how little progress I made (it goes slower than you think).
For the price of renting a nailer for one day this side nailer is yours to keep forever, which means take as long as you want and don't worry about getting back to the rental store on time. Generally speaking a factory reconditioned unit is given a good quality check before it is released and I had only one problem with this tool and it was one I caused myself by double nailing in the same hole that caused a nail to jam in the chute. The plate and spring mechanism was easily taken apart, jam cleared and back to work. The jamming was my fault. The gun works smoothly, it comes with a hammer. There was one small nick on the one I received indicating it was previously used but at the price comparison of recon vs. new that was not an issue. Even if you are not sure what you are going to do with a side nailer in your tool collection after you have finished the flooring job, the price of buying factory recon vs. rental makes it worth while.

Since each seller may have a different standard and policy, my review is more specific to the one that I purchased from Tool King. Please see my uploaded photos above, the unit I received was likely to be a rental unit. There are stains all over the handle. The paint on the tool is worn off at corners, indicating substantial usage. The signs of "reconditioning" are the black marker cover-up of the scratches on the black paint. The tool is in working order. But it is deceiving to call it refurbished.

Bostitch 51-853 16oz Steel Hammer Rip Claw Review

Bostitch 51-853 16oz Steel Hammer Rip Claw
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It' a hammer and works much better than a rock. The big head is really just a gimmick. If you think the big head will improve efficiency, it will not. If you like the balance of the hammer then go with it. I felt the balance was a bit off for my tastes. I purchased the hammer to replace an Estwing which I must have left on a job site. I liked the Estwing better as I thought it had better balance. One of the problems with all finish hammers is they have a smooth face so a the small head of a finish nail easily glances off thus bending the nail. I do not know of any finish hammer that this is not a problem. To remedy this problem, I carry a light weight Estwing drywall hammer with a waffle face to drive the nail. The waffle face allows me to adjust the direction of the nail, and small finish nails do not glance off. I drive the nail home with a finish hammer. I think a perfect finish hammer would have a waffle face on the bottom of the striking face and a slightly raised smooth face at the top of the striking face then a carpenter could drive the nail home with the top surface. Being slightly raised, the top surface would strike before the waffle face and not leave the waffle impression in the wood surface. OK Estwing and Bostitch, time McGiever a better hammer as this one is just slightly better than a rock.

Bostitch MCN-150 StrapShot Metal Connector Nailer Review

Bostitch MCN-150 StrapShot Metal Connector Nailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had been using an N88RH-2MCN for my metal connector work. As you know, the 2MCN is a standard framing nailer with a locator tip. While it works fine, it's big and heavy and doesn't always fit between joists and in tight places. The MCN150 solves that problem. It's small & light comparable to a 15ga nailer, almost half the weight of the 2MCN and it fits into tight spaces more easily. The MCN150 does not use a locator tip, but rather uses the exposed nail tip to guide you into the hole. I've had it now for about 3 months and ran several thousand nails through it without incident. I would highly recomend this tool if you do frequent metal connector work. Just remember that all metal connectors do not call for 1 1/2" nails. For longer nails, you need another gun. It comes in a nice plastic fitted case.

Today's homes are stronger than ever.More knowledgeable homeowners, natural disasters, and stricter building codes have led the industry to adopt better ways of building houses. One important result of this has been the massive rise in the use of metal connectors. These metal connectors, whether it is in the form of a hurricane tie, joist hanger, or stud plate tie are used to strengthen the weaker joint areas of a home.Their popularity has given rise to a new necessity on the jobsite, the nailer to attach all of these metal connectors.
The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) is the perfect tool for all types of metal connectors. Its exposed nail tip places the fastener point directly into connector holes for a faster, more precise application. It has a built in safety that prevents the tool from firing when not placed properly into the connector hole. The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) drives 1-1/2-inch, 35 degree Paper Tape Metal Connector Nails to secure any type of metal connector plate. These nails come specially hardened to ensure that if there is a misfire it can still drive through the metal connector plate safely.
One of the features that set the Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-150) apart from similar nailers is its size. Its compact design fits easily into hard to reach spaces including 12 inches on center studs (MCN150 only 10-1/2 inches tall). The tool is up to 50% lighter than competitive models for reduced fatigue and added maneuverability. The in line magazine also helps maneuverability by fitting into corners easily. Its low nail lockout feature prevents jams by preventing cycling with less than 5 nails for added safety. The tool also comes with hardened steel wear guards to protect the tool and adjustable exhaust to conveniently direct air away from the user. Finally, Bostitch has included a carrying case and our exclusive 7-Year Limited Warranty.

Bostitch MIIIFS 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic Floor Stapler Review

Bostitch MIIIFS 1-1/2-Inch to 2-Inch Pneumatic Floor Stapler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the MIIIFS stapler to lay approximately 1,700 sq. ft. of 3/4 inch red oak flooring in my new home. After installing well over 1,400 sq. ft. here are some of my observations:
1) The tool makes it very easy for a novice to put down a nice, tight hardwood floor. If the boards are laying tight an easy swing of the mallet is all it takes to fully seat a staple (more on this later). If the board is warped the MIIIFS can stand up to a solid mallet smack without any trouble. The mallet's plastic face, by the way, does not show any signs of cracking so far.
2) The stapler efficiently uses the its air so you do not need a big compressor. I have been using a 1.5 hp unit with a 6 gallon tank. Output is set at 85 psi. I doubt such a small compressor could supply two nailers simultaneously, but it handles one quite nicely.
3) The stapler did develop a small air leak near the top shortly after I began using it. The amount of leaking is small (based on psi drop at the compressor) but does make a distracting noise. This leak does not affect the function or reliability.
4) At your starting wall you need to face nail the flooring until you get about 6 inches from the wall. After that you'll have enough room to get the stapler into position.
5) As you approach the far wall the stapler can be used up to the last 13 or 14 inches.
6) As mentioned earlier the tool only requires an easy mallet smack. However, if you don't swing firmly enough the staple will not seat fully. This is usually caused by crowding against the far wall and not having enough room to swing the mallet.
7) The firing knob is too stiff to actuate by hand reliably - the mallet is required. It would have been nice if there was a way to trigger the stapler by hand then you could use it much closer to the far wall.
8) I have not had any problems with jamming. The unit I've been using has reliably shot every staple right down to the very last one in the magazine.
9) I have heard some rumors of staple-style flooring nailers damaging the floor's tongue. After closely examining several hundred staples in oak I'd say that about 2 or 3 percent show any signs of tongue damage. Some of this infrequent damage is due to stapling through a knot or due to handling. Some is due to the MIIIFS. I'm not sure how this compares to nail-style nailers. Anytime you send a fastener through kiln dried hardwood you're bound to have some occassional splitting.
Would I buy the MIIIFS again? You bet I would. Despite its few minor shortcomings this tool has saved me a LOT of work and the price is lower than other pnuematic nailers that I've looked at.

The Bostitch MIIIFS Pneumatic Floor Stapler lets you create professional-looking floors quickly and comfortably. Its high-speed pneumatic operation rapidly drives staples into both unfinished and prefinished hardwood flooring, and its long-grip handle allows you to maintain a comfortable posture when working. Tackling prefinished flooring is no problem with the included adapter foot and the extra-wide base plates that drive staples exactly where you want them.
All the Power You Need to Get Jobs Done QuicklyHarness the power of compressed air and complete your stapling jobs quickly and easily. Just connect the Bostitch MIIIFS Pneumatic Floor Stapler to your air compressor for 420 in/lbs of impact at 70-120 PSI. A manual strike will activate the firing action with a lightweight FloorGuard graphite mallet, and a 92-staple magazine will keep you working without interruption.
Comfortable Design Keeps You in ControlErgonomically designed for ease of use, the MIIIFS features an elongated handle that lets you work in a natural, comfortable position. For control, the extra-wide 1/2- and 3/4-inch interchangeable base plates sit flush against floor boards for stability, so you can drive staples at the proper depth every time. Additionally, a pre-finished floorboard adapter foot won't scuff or scratch floors during installation for a professional-grade result every time.
Lightweight, Durable Construction for Everyday UseThe MIIIFS Pneumatic Floor Stapler's lightweight body and graphite FloorGuard mallet make this tool comfortable enough to wield all day without fatigue. Built for durability, this stapler will withstand the wear and tear of any jobsite.

I have had numerous types of tin snips by every major manufacturer. I would have rated these snips five stars if not for their uncomfortable ergonomic design. The cutting is excellent, the design of this tool to allow minimal interference of nuts and clasps is great. The grips are awful, prolonged use of the tool will give you blisters on your thumbs.
This problem may be different for others though. Since the cost is not outrageous they are definitely worth a try and if not try the Lenox snips, they are near perfect.

Bostitch SBCAPS 1000 Caps for Cap Stapler and Nailer Review

Bostitch SBCAPS 1000 Caps for Cap Stapler and Nailer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After having used both Bostitch and Hitachi cap staplers I can say without a doubt that the Bostitch caps are the best. They work in Bostitch cap staplers without a problem, are easy to load, and are inexpensive. Not only do the Hitachi caps occasionally tear through, sometimes they do not release from the roll easily. The Bostitch caps never tear through and are individually stacked on the stick.
The biggest advantage I have found however, is that you can drop a stick in your nail pouch and pinch off individual caps to use with a standard staple gun. Many times you will find that your cap stapler will not fit where you want to place a staple, but a smaller staple gun will. This is especially handy when hanging insulation in tight spaces. By holding a cap in place when you staple, you can prevent the staple from tearing through the backing on the insulation. (Of course once the nose of the staple gun is on the cap, you want to move your finger before pulling the trigger.) The Bostitch caps will also work with brads. They are just made of tougher plastic than roll caps.
So the Bostitch caps are not only more versatile, but you will never have a staple tear through. While they are a little more expensive than roll caps, they are a better value overall. Especially if you need the retention of a staple cap when using a standard staple or brad gun.
If you own a Bostitch cap stapler then these caps are your only choice. If you don't own a cap stapler then you can use these caps individually with any staple gun. In any case they are the best staple caps you can buy.

I needed a brad nailer and compressor in order to properly finish some home remodeling. I was putting in a lot of new baseboards and other finishing trim and a hammer and nail just doesn't cut it anymore if you want a professional look. I bought this combo pack as a refurbished item from an ebay reseller and it works like a charm. The 6 gallon tank means it has plenty of capacity...I get like 40 brads in before it cycles on, and with 2.8cfm at 90 psi, the compressor only cycles on for a few seconds every couple of minutes with the brad nailer. The nailer works great too. Now i'm shopping for a bostich framing nailer to rebuild my fence with.
